How to make sure you stay on top of your eating, even if you do live a busy life!

A very common statement from mums and business men and women is “I simply don’t have enough time to eat this way”.

juggling_to_many_things

Well as this is such a regular phrase, we’ve become pretty good at helping people overcome this! Often it’s not that people don’t want to eat right, they simply don’t know how to!

So follow these top tips and you can stay compliant with your fat loss eating plan no matter how busy your day is.

Problem

I eat in restaurants all the time and there’s nothing right on the menu for me.

Solution

If you eat out regularly and you’re trying to stick to your fat loss eating plan, one thing you can do is ask the restaurant to design your meals the way you want them to be.  Often restaurants have the food you need to eat and it may not even be on the menu. A great tip is to simply ask for your protein portion to be doubled, leave out the starchy vegetables and double the vegetable portions they give you.
If you do order from the menu, remember to ask the waiter if there are any extra sauces included or if they add breadcrumbs etc to the meat/fish. You don’t want the temptation landing in front of you!

Problem

I’ve got a really busy schedule and I don’t have enough time to make all the food in the day. Does this sound familiar? You get up, race around, probably don’t even make it up in time to have a shower!

Solution

Set aside time once a week to prepare your food. Make a shopping list, go and get the food, and then prepare the whole week or even 3 days worth of meals ahead of time.
Before you go shopping, write your food plan out for the week. If you know your diary ahead of time, you can plan when, where and how you’re going to be able to eat.
You may find it easier to look at your weekly plan and workout which meals take longer to cook if you’re always busy and make it those ones that you’ll prepare ahead of time.

Another way if you don’t want to do the whole week is to make time (like I do) every morning to make all my food for the day ahead. Get up 45 minutes earlier and prepare for the day ahead. The night before I take out all my meat/fish and leave it out over night to defrost.

Problem

I’m in and out of meetings all day

Solution

My first answer to this is to make sure you’re that it’s you in charge of your diary and not someone else. You make your day hectic; so take a step back a regain control of your day!
I make sure I know is what sort of a day I have a ahead of me. I look in my diary ahead of time and plan when I’m going to be able to eat. I don’t just come across an appointment and as a result have to miss a meal! I also check and see if I need to take 6 meals or if I need to take 4/5 if I’m going to be home earlier?

Problem

My friends have booked a restaurant or are cooking a meal where they have nothing I can eat

Solution

If this does happen to you and you know ahead of time, my advice is to eat before you go out. If you try this you’ll realise that you’re not at all hungry when you get to the restaurant and you will choose a very small portion or even get away with a healthier starter.
If you are at a friend’s house, don’t be afraid to ask them ahead of time if they can cook you something that fits in with the way you eat. You won’t be surprised by their reaction if you just ask.
