Can you send me your diet?

We receive many emails from people asking for the diet that our clients follow when we get them in shape. They usually get pretty frustrated when we say "it really does depend", or we give them guidelines, but nothing very specific.
Many inexperienced coaches may simply send out a generic diet plan when asked for advice, and to be honest they'll work for some, but not for all.
Remember, for the best results, you must have a plan that has been designed for you.
Fat loss is specific, it's dependant on so many factors, but the biggest one is how you respond to certain foods.
One thing we teach everyone that we work with, is how to listen to their body. Do they feel better on certain foods, do they train better with carbs in their pre training meal (and intra workout), or do they feel better when we stick to protein and fats for the majority of their meals.
Personally I like to mix my clients diets up, I use carb days, and then I'll switch to fat days. After a while and watching how my clients respond, I might get them following more higher fat days than higher carb. On the flip side, I might get them following more higher carb day and then using a fat day as a set insulin sensitising day. By manipulating macronutrients, you can also see if your body looks better after carb based days, or if it looks better when using a predominant fat based day.
In the norm, I do have a style of nutrition and nutrient timing that I know works pretty well for optimising most peoples body composition, but I'm also very happy to switch it around if my clients aren't responding. By responding, I mean if I don't see the changes that I'm expecting to see, either on the scales, from looking at their pictures or when I read their body fat measurements.
It might frustrate you to hear me say that it all depends, but your own physiology really does dictate which style of eating works best for you.
As I'm writing the articles on the website to a mixture of inexperienced and more experienced people, please make sure you put your self in the correct bracket. For the purposes of this article, I'm referring to more advanced fat loss strategies.
Many of you could simply get in really nice shape, by tidying up your diet alone. It's pretty simple, and so many of your over complicate things right at the beginning.
So when it comes to more advanced fat loss methods, it really isn't as simple as sending someone my diet, or a nutrition plan that one of our clients followed. Over the time we've worked with someone, we've tweaked their diet and ended up with a formula that works for them.
Pay attention to how your body responds to certain foods, start off with a set of guidelines, and don't be afraid to mix things up as your see your body responding positively or negatively.
