A one day test at Brands Hatch on Tuesday followed by another at Snetterton on Wednesday saw Ben Wilson complete his pre-season training for the 2011 British Supersport championship which begins in earnest at Brands Hatch over the Easter weekend.
Wilson (29) from Kirton near Boston who is trained by Mark Coles of M10 Fitness was in fine form and able to complete every session at both circuits in the final two official British Superbike Tests and powered his Gearlink Kawasaki to some very respectable lap times.
The Snetterton test on Wednesday was an ideal opportunity for the Lincolnshire ace to get to grips with the new track. Through the winter the circuit has had a multi-million pound face lift and the track extended to 2.99 miles to include a number of new, sweeping corners.
“I am really pleased with the way the final two tests have gone. The new circuit layout here at Snetterton is really good. The corners are flowing and it’s really fast. We don’t race here until July but we found some good settings for the bike and I am looking forward to riding under race conditions.
“Next weekend can’t come quick enough for me. I am itching to get my season going and get some points under my belt. With the races at Brands Hatch being on the short Indy circuit I need to qualify well so I can get a good start to my first race, get my head down and then take it from there.”
There is one free practice on Friday with the second on Saturday followed by qualifying for race one grid positions. The 18-lap first race is on Sunday at 4.30pm ahead the feature British Supersport race run over 26 laps of the circuit at 3.40pm on Monday.
