Testing the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey Team

M10 welcomed players from the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team into the gym today.
Only days after winning the Elite League play off finals and a season that also included winning the challenge cup, the guys were eager to see what they needed to do to improve for next year.
Over the past 4 months, together with the Panthers Physiotherapist (Scott Poundall), I have been designing a bespoke off ice testing system specifically for UK Ice Hockey players.
Player/Coach of the Nottingham Panthers Corey Neilson was amongst the players tested. He has recently been called up to the Great Britain Ice Hockey squad who face the Netherlands on the 9th of April in Nottingham.
The tests we use measure flexibility, structural balance, core, strength, power and speed. Each player receives a full report on their condition at the end of the assessments. From there they are advised on the areas that they need to focus on whilst away on their summer break (players will be retested prior to the start of next season). They can choose to have a training programme designed by myself to work on, private coaching is also available.
I will be coaching two of the current Panthers team members throughout this off season in preparation for next year.
What separates the coaching available in the system we have created is that UK players can come and be coached on the most appropriate Strength & Conditioning specifically for Ice Hockey. There are many online Ice Hockey coaching programs available but there is nowhere for UK Ice Hockey Players to get tested and then coached to the level they need to compete at the highest level.
Our affiliated website www.eliteicehockeyconditioning.co.uk goes live very soon so keep your eyes out.
