"I ONLY WISH I HAD TAKEN THIS STEP YEARS AGO"
Ben was embarrassed after seeing photos of himself from a beach holiday during the summer of 2019. He knew he was overweight but did not realise the extent of it and vowed to himself that, on his next holiday, he would be a changed man and not shy away from taking topless photos.
In the past Ben has tried many fad diets and trained by himself but it made him feel anxious because he was unsure of what he was doing. If he didn’t make progress rapidly, he gave up and reverted back to old eating habits, high alcohol consumption and little to no exercise.
Determined to change, Ben started working with M10 coach, Joe Duffy and said: “Joe has shown me exactly what to do and when, what to eat and when, all with a level of flexibility that means the programme hasn’t become onerous or unsustainable. I can’t wait for the next phases and the process of building a stronger more muscular physique.”
Ben used to feel scared and anxious in commercial gyms and lacked structure...
“I had tried several fad diets and exercise programs, from low carb to low fat and everything in between. I had joined commercial gyms and been so anxious about myself that I only went a few times then never again. I had no real sense of a goal or outcomes other than the vague idea of a “good body”. Therefore, everything I did lacked structure and planning. If I didn’t make progress rapidly, I gave up and reverted to my bad eating habits, high alcohol consumption and nil physical output.”

A lot has changed...
“I have lost 50lbs of fat and 11 inches and increased my lean muscle mass.
But my motivation, consistency and determination have developed and dramatically improved my physical and mental well-being. I have learned that when my body and mind is telling me to quit, that’s when I want to push even harder. In the past I gave up after failing, but now I use any failure as a target to exceed each and every week. I have learnt that nothing worth doing comes easy. There’s no such thing as a “10-day beach body”. Being consistent, patient and not giving up are my ultimate takeaways.”

Initially, the hardest part of the programme was feeling confident about being in a gym environment. This was one of the anxieties that had prevented me from going to gyms in the past. However, this unease was very short lived. Joe, the rest of the M10 team and other members make M10 a really friendly, affirming and motivating place to be.
