Making a change for life
Hi, My name is Paul Ledger. I’m 33 years old and I weighed 19.05 stone/121kg.
I had had enough of looking at myself and thinking “ you fat f****r “ so I decided to do something about it. I did a search on Google for personal trainers in Newark and one popped up just up the road from where I work in Farndon, M10. They're based in Newark Marina’s yard. Anyway, I thought to myself this would be perfect for me as I can go on my way to work, so I emailed them for a consultation.
I got a reply to my email and I arranged a meeting with Mark Coles, the owner of M10. We sat down and had a long chat about what I wanted to get out of the training and what my problems were as to why I couldn’t lose the weight on my own steam. Then came crunch time, the prices. I opted for 3 times a week for 12 weeks. I left feeling lighter and a lot better after the chat with Mark and I felt that this would be a big turning point in my life.
I started my training early October and my trainer was Luke Watson. We got on right away as he made me feel very welcome. He didn’t judge me which is one of the reasons why I didn’t like going to the gym on my own, I thought people were looking at me and thinking “ look at that “!!! So we took pictures, measurements and ran through what the following 12 weeks would entail. I left the first meeting with Luke feeling happy that I had made a very wise move.
I had been given a very strict diet to follow for the first two weeks and I had to drink more water than I had ever done. I found that hard but at the same time, I knew I had to do it otherwise the training would be a waste of time.
Then came the next session, the start of the training. When we had finished and whilst I was waiting for work to open, I fell asleep in my car because it knackered me out that much. I found that amazing as I had never felt so tired after a session in the gym before. I was also very sore the next day but all to be expected.

One of the greatest feelings is when people you haven’t seen for a while comment on how good you look. Fitting into your old clothes is another great feeling. All I need to do now is keep it up which is going to be hard but I’m 100% determined to keep the weight off.
